Why it works this way
Because the opening is never standard.
Arizona houses settle and arches are rarely true. A door built to a measured opening still closes properly in year ten; a stock door bought to a nominal size starts binding the first summer.
That is the entire argument for custom, and it is why the measurement visit comes before the quote rather than after it.
